The Pirates placed catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a herniated disc. He was injured Wednesday night while running the bases against the Arizona Diamondbacks at PNC Park. Snyder will have surgery Friday morning at Allegheny General Hospital, but the Pirates did not speculate how much time he could miss.
